Etsy Seller Interview - Triple Feature!

I had so much fun doing the last interview, so I thought I'd do another one! There will be more next week as well!

The reason this is called a "Triple Feature" is  because the seller owns three shops on Etsy.. They are called-

From Pilous Percilla

From all Night Diner

From Squidflex

Today, the main focus is on the Pilous Percilla shop. Below is an interview with the shop owner-

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself- I am Amanda, one half of the Flex Family Arts team. My Mister (James) and I live in Atlanta and spend our time making art together and goofing off with Baby Flex.

2. How did you get started on Etsy? I have sold on etsy a few time since the past, but this time around it was all because of the Mister's awesome hand-drawn cards. Knowing that I LOVE the circus, James gifted me with some side show-themed cards...one featuring General Tom Thumb. This was the start of it all. I have embroidered off/on for years and immediately thought his card would make an amazing embroidered portrait. This is how we started the first shop, PIlous Percilla!

3. How did you come up with your shop name? Percilla Bejano is the famous "Monkey Girl" or bearded lady from side show history. Percilla was the 2nd portrait we did and I LOVE alliteration. So...we named the shop Pilous Percilla. Pilous is another word that basically means "hairy".

4. What is your goal? Right now we consider all our shops and blog a big hobby. We would love to one day make it into something one of us could do part time for income...but for right now we are just enjoying the ride. This coming year we would like to do more art shows and work on getting some items in local shops!

5. What would you like to improve upon? Living life to the fullest...more fun...less work (at least work we don't like) and more sweets! Those aren't really very grown-up goals I guess…haha.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop? Sigh...I can't really decide. With three shops I think I have multiple favorites in all of them. I would have to say right now it might be the Hunter S. Thompson portrait in the All Night DIner shop.

7. Do you remember your first sale? What was it? I believe it was a jackalope to one of the contributors to Mr. A Stitch! We were thrilled.

8. Do you have any promotion tips? Well, we clearly aren't that huge...so I don't know that they work. We engage in the etsy community a lot, collaborate with other bloggers and that's about it.

9. What is your favorite color? Blackbluegreenorange...I know that's not one color…sorry!

10. How can others contact you (blog, facebook, twitter, etc)? You can always find us at:flexfamilyarts.blogspot.com or at our etsy shops:www.pilouspercilla.etsy.com

Etsy Seller Interview

Today, I am featuring an Etsy seller! My first feature ever! The featured shop is called~

Below is an interview with the shop owner~

1. Tell me a little bit about yourself-

I was born and still live in Riga, which is a small, but beautiful city in Latvia. With years I learned and improved different crafting techniques. My favorite crafting technique is felting. Wool is a very plastic material, therefore it is possible to create almost anything with felting. My favorite accessories from felt is flower brooches, because they can easily change any clothing look. Also you can find in my shop felt hair accessories, iphone cases, felt bead necklaces, crochet hats and other felt, crochet and knitted accessories.

2. How did you get started on Etsy?

I got inspired to join Etsy after I created shop banners for people that I know in real life.

3. How did you come up with your shop name?

I came up with my shop name quite easily. I like to craft in different techniques, therefore I didn't want my shop name to symbolize some specific crafting technique. "Ilzes Creations" says it all!

4. What is your goal?

My goal is to make new ideas with which myself and others would be happy and satisfied.

5. What would you like to improve upon?

I want to improve my artist skills. I want to paint again. Painting is quite a long process, therefore I hesitate to start it again, but it is great way to learn how to feel the colors and their combinations, also it teaches composition and how to pass mood and atmosphere.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop?

I have many favorite items in my shop, this felted pink rose is one of them. I like it because it is multi functional. It can be used as necklace, hair accessory or even just tied to a bag.

7. Any inspiration tips for when you feel unmotivated to create?

When I lose inspiration to make something, then I stop for a time. I'm finding something different to do, it could be new design for my crafts, it could be a different crafting technique. It is important not to stop to be creative or crafting can get boring and unbearable.

8. Do you have any promotion tips?

Most important - be unique, never stop to learn and be creative! If you will follow that, then people will like your creations. That is the best advertising that you can have.

9. What is your favorite color?

I don't have one specific favorite color. It would be easy to tell which colors I don't like that much. It's more about color combinations. Any color can be favorite if used correctly with other colors.

10. How can others contact you (blog, facebook, twitter, etc)?

Return From Africa

Yesterday, we picked up my grandpa from the airport. He returned home after being in Africa for 3 months! He is a pastor, and he went there to do some preaching and teaching at Moffet Bible College. Upon his return, he was thinner because some of the African food didn't sit well with him. So, upon his request, we went to Portillo's for some all-American food!

Walking into Portillo's.

We brought him some cherries. He had been craving them.
